Bit Torrent's not downloading fast at all :(

I use BitTornado client. Downloading from suprnova.org.. I have comcast cable.

Seems like everything I try and get downloads slow as Christmas.

That fastest I've been able to download is 15 kb/s, but normaly I get 1-3. I'm on a wireless cable connection, but i'm pretty close to the router (it's just in the room next to mine). Is there any settings on BitTornado that I can use to increase my speed. Right now I just have Settings for Unlimited Upload rate.. max uploads at 4. I've already opened all the ports that it says to.

CASE 1: it may just be the server(s) you are trying to download from are slow

CASE 2: if there are people in your neighborhood that use comcast cable it will slow your connection down depending on how much bandwith everyone else uses.

CASE 3: there are more settings you might need to change

CASE 4: i am completely wrong and therefore I dont know what else to do

Yeah I figured it was case 3, but what to change is my problem. CASE 1 and 2 I know aren't it.

bit torrent speeds are only as good as the amount of people (and the amount of people close to you) that are also downloading the file.

bit torrent links can get old after a week or 2. and you MUST MUST share the file to get good speeds. if you cap your upload you are considered a leech and an outcast and no one will give you their file.

higher upload equals higher download in bit torrent land.

but still. links get old. shareaza has a highly viewable connection info. like number of users and their individual speeds.

EDIT: I'll just let ocean or someone else handle it, because thats not a field of expertise for me, so I'll let the experts handle from here

Yeah I know. I was just wondering if there are any settings I should change on BitTornado. You'd probably have to have used the program to help me. I always get a yellow light, and I want a green I do upload usually from 5-10 KB/s.. If I do any more my download will go down too much, pluss I have a 30 kb upload cap anyway.

I just dont know if I should pet the settings on unlimited, fast cable/dsl, slow cable/dsl, t1, or t3 +

I've always just had it on unlimited. I know I have cable interent, but I know some programs will go faster if you put it on like T1 even if u only have cable.

bit tornado isnt that great from what ive heard.
id recommend torrent storm.

Ok guys i need some major major major help and have been losing sleep past few nights as im goin nuts. For the past 3 weeks i have been gettin downloads in access of 100K/s plus using burst. This monday all of a sudden my downloads were reduced to 40K or so. My next door neighbor still was goin strong at 100K plus. I left it and still on Tuesday same problem. I can see that im not able to connect as much to other peers to download things as i was the past 3 weeks. IM being snubbed a lot more for some reason, i have noticed. I have passed NAT. I didnt change anything. SO today i got fedup with gettin 30K or so when i have been getting 100 plus.
I changed the MAC address on my linksys router, reformatted hard drive, got a new IP address, and still cannot exceed over 30K. I tried bit tornado and have noticed i still cannot connect to more than 6 peers max and am getting a lot of snubs still. WHat the heck has happened in the past four days and how do i fix this problem. Please respond anyone or email to agupta3818@comcast.net. I use linksys router and modem and have comcast if that helps.

You guys realize that Suprnova is a piracy site, right?

No no, see those are all back up copies distributed for people that don't have cd burners! Everyone downloading has already purchased the software in question.

And the movies...Well those are just special edition extended trailors.

i need to back up my half life 2 that i bought from the computer wiz that works at EB. he saved me a copy after they all sold out the very first day on sale, but the box got damaged, so all i got was the cd.
