Is it just me, or is there something seriously wrong with these people? I think Moore's movies are awful crap, too -- at leat the Columbine one, as that's all I've seen -- but this is nuts.
Since when was censorship Patriotic? I don't need these animals "protecting" me from seeing a film and forming my own opinions on it. Do you?

its the same group that got the reagan miniseries canned last year. i dont know why the network gave in to them, but i doubt the movie theaters will. the demographics of movie goers is quite a bit younger than that stupid group.
not having seen the movie, obviously, i cant speak for its content. but last i checked, this is a free country, and his movie is hardly in the realm of "harmful".

Though, I differ with Red that this is a FREE country, she makes a good point that theatre owners are more likely to show the movie than TV execs who mostly are salaried by the same folks that have nominated themselves as our National Censors.
In my home town, the movie will be shown in a Major theatre on 8 screens. (It's a college town) and If it hadn't been for that, the local equivalent of an art theatre was prepared to show the film 24 hours a day with lectures from peaceniks inbetween vegetarian buffets.
I plan to see the film though all the reviews (real ones and not knocking it for political reasons) seem to think the film depressing and shocking. Since I am rarely shocked these days, I plan to return to my college era mentality where I was in culture shock constantly. (I remember my whole freshman year, I would walk about in a drug induced haze saying to myself my high school teachers lied to me about the way things really are.)
But as far as the Film itself and the attempts to censor it or suppress its message, it's politics as usual in an election year. As the current news analysis suggests, Bush's re-election team has now turned to gay marriage in an attempt to extract Bush and Iraq from the front pages of our news.
Watch the Senate over the next few weeks to see if they are successful.

when you read about the "factual inaccuracies" keep in mind these same people printed the same stuff about bowling for columbine and it wasn't true. they made up lies about how moore lied in his film. they will do anything to convince themselves they are right and just. anything to convince themselves that america is the protector of the free world, no matter have man facts are thrown at them, they just declare them lies and move on.

he probably has a number of exaggerated and misleading things in there. might even be a few outright "lies". doesnt matter, hes not presenting this as a piece of news, or at a scientific conference. its a movie. movies are entertainment, even if they are documentaries. people lie in documentaries all the time, nobody gets excited about it.

Like anyone, Moore puts a spin on things yet there is still some important truths or facts in his documentaries.

I would gently disagree here. There are no important truths or facts to be gained from Hollywood. Hollywood is not about truth on any topic. It does not represent us, it amuses us. Hollywood's god is $$$$ not truth. If it sells it is good. There is no other aim. Any other claims are for advertising. Remember that there is no such thing as "bad" publicity.

But Moore still does try to open the public's eyes to some of the sharade being played and no doubt it is in his own political/monetary favour.

It's showing around here. Not in my town, but just a couple of towns over. Unfortunately, I got stuck working doubles yesterday and today. I was hoping to catch it on opening day to see if there were protesters so I could get some pictures and maybe have a little fun playing with them.
Is anyone else planning to see it? I will, but mostly just because people tried to tell me I can't, and I really get irked by that.

I'll probably wait for it to come out on DVD, same way I did for Bowling for Columbine ... I'd rather watch Spiderman 2 next week
The past two years has filled my brain with enough 9/11 conservative/liberal propaganda to last me another year, hehe

unfortunately, the content doesnt interest me at all. yet i want to support the film, after all the nonsense. i am torn

I think of Moore as a liberal Rush. I think they're both kind of disgusting. I only want to see it in the theaters to do my part to offset the work done by the people who wanted to remove it from circulation.
