C&C: Renegade Problems

I was in the mood to finally install Renegade on my parent's machine, as it can't run on mine. On an attempt to install, it basically says that "setup.exe has encountered an error and needs to be closed by windows."
It doesn't give an explanation, and the error log that was supposedly created doesn't exist.
I tried doing this on my old machine, and it did the exact same thing. This was expected, as I didn't meet the requirements. I believe though, this this machine does.
My specs:
Windows 2000se Service Pack 2
Pentium III 450
384 RAM
13 gig HD
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2/TNT2 Pro
Any ideas here?

The installer uses the game's engine to display the characters/weapons/vehicles while you are installing. Maybe it needs newer video card drivers or the latest directx to work correctly.
I think your pc is pretty slow for the game though, I used to run it on an athlon xp 1600 with a geforce 2 gts and I wasn't really satisfied with the speed. On the other hand, I only played the multiplayer part, single player is probably alot less demanding.
