I have a Radeon IGP 345M card on a Compaq Presario 2500. C&C Generals keeps crashing when I run it, usually after about 30 minutes of playing. Is it because:
345M isn't compatible with DirectX 8.1 and/or 9.0b (the one I have)?
345M doesn't have enough memory (32 MB shared I think, 433 MB RAM)?
345M isn't compatible with the game itself (are IGP cards incompatible with C&C Generals)?
The game is defective?
Somehow, my sound card (Conexant AMC AUDIO sound playback, Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth midi playback) is messing it up?
Multiple of the above?
None of the above?
I'm so confused about what the heck is wrong that I can't play this awesome game, please let me know if you can find what's wrong.

Are you trying to play this game on a laptop? I think your video memory is shared (not sure, although C&C:G's minimum requirements is a 32MB vid card), but in any case I would suggest going to the Compaq site and downloading the latest drivers for your video card... Also, what processor speed do you have?
Note that the minimum requirements for C&C:G may not be reliable for smooth, problem-free gameplay... stick around for more suggestions though...

The rest of my computer is all geared up, so it can't be the processor. Here's the details:
2.66 GHz Pentium 4
433 MB RAM
24x CD-RW, 8x DVD
32 MB video memory
Lots of hard drive space
So, even if the memory is shared, the 433 MB would certainly pick up the leftovers, wouldn't it? And I just recently downloaded the latest driver update, but haven't tried running it yet since.
