Can someone help me out here??

Okay, here goes...

I began playing the fun filled world on multiplayer Diablo II- on my brothers machine. I have some questions, as I am a newbie when it comes to MP gaming on here.

What are ladder characters? Do they have anyhting special about them?

Hardcore characters...they can only die once, but do they get anything out of it, is it just bragging rights??

The economy of D2- what is the deal with SoJ's and Pgems and all this other stuff...I don't know what the heck any of it means...

And, is there any way I can import my characters from standard 1-player offline games to use for multiplayer?

Those are a few questions I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I think or anymore, I will post here again.

Thanks.

By the way, if any of you play any MP at all, I'm a level 12 barb named The_Law. Maybe I'll see you on sometime!

Adios, feedback welcomed.

Ladder allows your characters to get ranked among other ladder players, plus you get some perks (like items not found in normal multiplayer, etc).

Hardcore is for those who want more of a challenge in playing D2. There are also exclusive items in hardcore not found in normal multiplayer. It's also more exciting to play coz you take better care of your characters. A hardcore character above level 70 or 80 "is" something to brag about.

They were considered popular trade items before... dunno about now.

You can play your single player character in Open Battle.Net Multiplayer, but not Closed Battle.Net Multiplayer games. CLosed means your characters are saved on the server, usually meaning you can play on non-hacked multiplayer games... Usually.

The answers to most of your questions (except for the economy one) can be found here:
http://www.battle.net/diablo-universe.shtml

Another great Diablo 2 information resource is http://www.diabloii.net .

Yes, you're going to read a bunch to get to the specific answers to some of your questions, but that's kind of the point.
