LAN problems with Starcraft in battlenet

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi,

I've been trying to figure out what the problem is with connecting to the internet with my DLINK Di624 router with my WinXP machines and playing starcraft with two valid battlenet keys. It seems perfectly fine that we can connect and host/join games when the only people playing that particular game is the only people within my LAN. When someone else joins (not within my LAN) the games lags so bad it's not playable. When everyone, except on computer quits the game, it the game becomes completely smooth. I already configured my router properly (I think), I've tired using DMZ, but that seems to make the situation worst and is limited to only one computer, and all software firewalls are off (not sure if you can disable the router firewall). So has anyone have any clue why this happens and how to fix it?

**IN SHORT**
I was wondering if there is any way to have two or more computers hooked up to the internet at one location (my house) playing starcraft online on battlenet WITH other players on battlenet (not located at my house)?

You Have a D-Link? If you do follow these steps:
open internet explorer. In adress bar type in 192.168.0.1
a box should openm asking you for username and password.
in username put admin
in password leave blank (no password)
Then It should open ur routers settings.
go to advanced Tab and type in the following:
Name: starcraft
Private Ip: Your Ip Adress. Example: 192.168.0.100(You Can Find ur ip adress at start menu, run type in cmd click ok then a blak box should come up saying command prompt. in there type in IPCONFIG.
In Protocol Type Put In Both(udp And Tcp.
In Private and public ip type in 6112 for both of them.
After That It Says Scedule: Check Always.
Thats It Your Set !
U might need 2 restert ur computer.
Hope You Can Do It !
sincerely,
Diablo Father
then look at your ip adress. thats the ip adress u put in private ip in ur routers settings.)

Hi DiabloFather,

That doesn't seem to solve the problem. Maybe I didn't explain my problem correctly. Let me try again.

-I have a LAN with 2 or more computers (each running winXP, no firewalls on, all valid bnet keys)
-Any computer can join or host games.
-The games are smooth without lag IF only players from my LAN are in the game
-When someone outside of my LAN joins the game (someone on bnet), the game becomes so lagged that it's not playable.
-Once they leave the game (the person not within my LAN) the game is playable again.

May this clears things up?

thanks!

oho sry i thought u wanted 2 forward a port.
the game becomes laggi is somone on battle.net with high latency ( mostly like dial up users) join a game they will make the game laggy.
after that u will become laggy 2 so u will need 2 restart your pc
thats a bad thing.
u cannNOT change ur latency from high 2 low but if u wanna get a low latency u need 2 get high speed dsl lan etc...

hmm... I'm pretty sure the other player on BNET was not on dial up... and I myself am on ADSL. Could it be something else? Maybe Bnet doesn't allow multiple players with the same IP?

Found this in the archives from NegotiatorSmith.

While poking around the D-Link support site, I noticed that for three of the DI routers (604, 614, and 624), it says this in regard to Starcraft, Diablo and Diablo II:

"This allows for 1 machine on the network to take advantage of Blizzards Battle.net system for playing online games such as Diablo and StarCraft."

It sounds like that with D-Link routers, you can only have one computer connect to Battle.net with Starcraft, Diablo or Diablo II at one time. I guess this is something unique to D-Link routers, but I'm really not sure"

Buy a different router?
