Norton Personel Firewall 2003

Hello to all,
My name is Bob and am new to the site. My question is: I have Norton Pro 2003 and Norton Personel Firewall 2003. I have removed Mcafee Internet Security Suite 4 Ver.6.0 recently. When trying to open the Firewall I will get a message "You have recently updated your Operating System, to open Norton Personel Firewall, you must uninstall and reinstall" My OS is WinXP Pro and has been since Aug 2003. I tried to find some assistance on Nortons web site and found something about a program may be interfering with a Win32 file but I am not sure how to find out which one. Can any one help with this problem?

Welcome to OTS, Bob.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Norton Firewall as it suggests to see if it fixes the problem? Make sure to check your permissions (you must be logged on as admin) before you do this.
What else do you have running in the background? Any other security software, IM applications, etc that are loaded during startup?

uninstall norton, using the removal tool found at their website, then run a registry cleaner. then reboot and reinstall. that should do it.
the mcaffee (and other such programs, like norton) imbeds itself in your system. installing or removing them will change your configuration.
