Creative Nomad Zen Xtra VS Dell Jukebox

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Im in the process of buying a Mp3 player. Im shooting for $200-$250 pricetag.

My requirements go as follows:

Rechargeable internal battery or NiMH
Quality sound(I like good bass)
USB2 and 1.1 compatable
Can store other types of files besides music
Features like playlists, folders, etc
A clear easy to read LCD with a backlight
Drag and drop file transfer(would prefer)
USB battery charging(would prefer)

So I narrowed it down to the 40gb Creative Nomad Zen Xtra or the 15gb Dell Jukebox. Right now Im leaning heavily towards the Nomad because of all of its features, has a nice aluminum case and a great LCD. But Im mostly interested int he sound quality(I like clear deep bass). The Nomad is about $240 total, while the Jukebox is slightly over $200(after tax/shipping). The dell also has a longer battery life, 20 hours compared to the 14 for the nomad. But that really doesnt matter to me as I wouldnt be using either one for 20 hours straight anyways.

So the question really is, how good is the sound quality on Creative mp3 players, specifically the Nomad Zen Xtra's?

And also, please do not post 'get an iPod'.

From the reveiws I've read over the past year, the Creative Nomad line has gotten about the best reviews. I generally read the reviews at Tom's Hardware. I've never personally used either of those so I couldn't give you a first hand account, but I generally can rely on the reviews and opinions I read about on Tom's Hardware.

I've read multiple times that the Nomad's quality is nice if you don't use it's EQ. Depending on your headphones or musical preference, the EQ could be a problem. Either way, I hope you aren't going to use the included ear phones.

You aren't going to have plug it in and drag and drop capability with either of these players since they both require specialized drivers. From there, it's a matter of preference for the software.

Dell has a refurbished store where the 15gb version is $152 and the 20gb is $193.

Im definitely not buying a refurb. Ive had luck in the past with refurbs, but for something like this I want new.

I think ima get the Zen. Its just got so many more features. Ill be using my Aiwa HP-X222 headphones with it.
