I am running windows 98 128 mb ram 4 gb hd. I have been encoutering windows regisrty problems. The system says it needs to restart to fix the problem. It takes about 5-6 tries to fix the problem. Well in a couple of days the message comes back again. Well I got sick of this message and I formated the disk. Just to have this error come back again. Should this error come back even after I formatted? Any suggestions?

well, make sure you repartition before formatting. if it still comes back after that, you have some hardware issue causing the problem. either a faulty hard drive, bad ram, or a power issue.

I did indeed erase the partion and create a new partion. Then formated. But the "windows encounterd a regisrty issue and need to reboot to fix this problem" appears. you say it may be hardware related?

unless there is some odd corruption on your OS disk. you arent using any type of restore, correct? a straight partition, format, and install from the 98 CD. so youre rather limited in what could be causing this. but do update all your drivers, as well as your bios. lets see, you can check your ram easily enough from the program at www.memtest.org
