HP and MIT have formed an alliance to produce a quantum computer. The project launched in June of 2000, with an investment of $25 million. Researches from popular labs have teamed up to produce a quantum computer.

They aren't expecting much at first, but the contract is only set for 5 years. The goal is to break the current physical limit of silicon and allow Moore's law to continue on.
