I too have a linksys router and have done the exact steps that NegotiatorSmith has posted several times, I still cant host custom games though. Im pretty sure that I followed the steps that you have given in the past right though, so I would really like to know what the problem is. I also have my McCafee compleley shut down and disabled. Thanks in advance for your help.

Check out this link: http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...lLm5ldA**&p_li=
If that doesn't help you: Do you have any other routers or firewalls running on your computer?

thanks man...ill let u know if it worked

Nope its still not working...Negotiator Plz if you can reply to this to give me some help

I don't know that NegotiatorSmith even posts here. I've only ever seen him on battle.net.
Aside from that, I'll answer this the same way that I have answered all the others: I host just fine on a linksys router; even on the same model as most everyone else. Port forwarding is fine, but most people don't do it correctly. For instance, people will forward ports for TCP, but they don't realize that UDP is also necessary. Further, DMZ host tends to make hosting difficult. Make sure it is disabled in the router control panel.

Oh ok. Then do u think you could give me the step by step for me to do the port forwarding. Also let me know if you need my router and modem information. Thanks man.

Port Forwarding
Hope that helps.

Still couldnt host. I would really appreciate it if you guys continued to help me, but if you cant figure it out thats ok too.

Pull your system off your router and connect directly to your cable/dsl modem. See if you are able to host doing that and let us know.

Actually I read at the Linksys website that Blizzard's newest patch for Warcraft 3 requires something else in order to host games, something called port triggering.
Posted by: Mets21490
Oh really? Do you know anything else about it? Also I dont think I would be able to connect directly to my cable modem. Thats why I got a router, unless im just misunderstanding you.

The cable that goes into and out of your router is the same cable that goes into your ethernet card. So yes, so can connect directly to the cable modem. Routers are used for networking, not generally for connecting one computer to the net.

Ya that worked I can host then, but my dad isn't gonna let me keep it like that haha, so knowing that do you know what to do?

They should make a router that is combined with a Dsl modem. And make it so that it can go into dial-up 56k mode or dsl 1.5mb mode.
