Code Red and HP / Xerox printers.

This may be old news but I will post it here for those who didn't know. Here is a quote from the article.
In the first few days of August, Code Red and Code Red II scoured the Internet for Windows NT and 2000 systems that had Microsoft's IIS 4.0 and 5.0 vulnerabilities. While their scanning failed to bring the Internet to a crawl, the Code Red worms did produce some very interesting side effects beyond those warned about by Microsoft and the government. You may have heard about the problems with Cisco routers, but did you know that Hewlett-Packard and Xerox printers were also affected by these worms?
You can find the article here.

Unfortunately, some people like those ISP's had knee-jerk reactions and closed off Port 80 on all their routers. Even some companies did. The result is that the Code Red effect would probably have never been felt at all except for overreaction by these "know-it-alls".
I have first hand experience in this.

We currently have that port closed off, which is causing SO many more problems than it is potentially solving. If any of you know where I work, you will be as amused by this as I am. Know-it-alls, indeed!
