XP install hanging up
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm trying to install XP on a new hard drive and it keeps locking up on me during the "Installing Devices" part of the set up. Specifically with 34 minutes left to complete install. I've formated to HD 2X and still no luck.
Anyone out there run into this?
Thanks.

Is there a specific error message?
Try resetting the BIOS to its default settings.

how about system requirements?

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried restoring the bios to it's original settings to no avail. There is no error message that comes up. It just freezes up every single time. Same place.
The system had XP on it before. I just put in a new hard drive. I would post all the specs to the system but I can't get it up and running. A friend built it for me. It ran fine before I tried this.

then either the hard drive is bad, or the xp disk is damaged. partition and format it using some other program, or in another computer, see if that helps. if it doesnt, run the diagnostic software from the drive manufacturer. also try removing as many devices as you can before installing.

Thanks! I'll let you know how it turns out.
