Het guys, I'm back.
I missed some of you!
My problem is that I have 2 computers networked together and while playing a game, one of hte computers is disconected from the network when there is no mouse activity on either one. I believe it's the mouse or when there is no keyboard activity...i'm not sure, but it happens after 5 minutes or so.
Please help out this old kid.
Thanks!

Hey man,
Thanks for the reply!
I have an eternal ethernet and the other has a external D-Link via usb.
Would that cause one or the other pc to disconect from the game when the mouse or keyboard is not used.
I really appreciate the help!
Rock on

You must use same brand of LAN coz it would definitly have a connection problem, like DRIVER issues. Your PCs couldnt communicate well using different brand of LAN. If it is Dlink, use Dlink both, etc.

Hmm... Interesting... Is the screen saver activate when you lose connection? According to that description, the energy saving features may be interfering with the network connection. (I know, my energy saver disconnects me from the Web.) Try turning off the energy savers on both computers.

It doesn't really matter which brand everybody uses. Driver issues are not a problem because every computer only has the driver for their LAN card installed, different brands communicate just fine with eachother.

I used to have a problem when my mouse was USB where the system would pause for a minute, apparently while the USB controller was checking devices. I move the mouse to my PS2 port and the problem went away. (USB 1.0, early).
Could it be your D-Link USB device is causing the same type of pause, which the network software is interpreting as lost connection/network down? If you have a non-USB network device, I'd give that a try.
