problem with opening windows media player for windows 2000

I cant open windows media player on my computer, I have windows 2000. I double click on the icon on the desktop but it doesn't open. I haven't installed anything lately, and I have no idea what the problem could be.

Probably a bad shortcut.
Try opening the application itself.

Start->Programs->Windows Media Player

C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe
You can also create a shortcut to the above location ..
