Just got a hand-me-down very low-end laptop:

Compaq(nuff said)
Not sure on cpu speed, im sure its no more than 500 mhz
64 MB ram
4 Gig hd

Had 98 S.E. on it. Had to pull a few files off, for previous owner, and then I put XP Pro on it, formatted drive, etc...First boot up, I go to login and I get this error:

The system cannot log you on due to the following error:

The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

Tried logging in as my account and as Admin, same error every time. As it is first boot, ofcourse no domain joined yet.

Any clues?

Dont know if it could be something simple? If not ill be happy to reinstall soon enough.

Seems 2k/xp both have a problem if the computer doesnt have network components installed before upgrading the os.

Thanks anyway guys.
