Xp Help

Just bought a computer and "my computer" does not populate for approximately 2-3 minutes. Same with any drive. Is this a bug with XP? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
THANKS FOR THE HELP...re-installed XP for the third time and miraculously, everything is working fine now

You may have a corrupted cd in the drive.
