GBC Project

Alright. I've had this idea bouncing around in my head for the last few days.
I want to wire some thermal probes into my case, and use my old Gameboy Color to display the temps.
I've figured out how I could mount the GBC into my case, the problem that remains is how I'm going to connect the probes to the GBC, and how I'm going ti display it on the screen.
Now I'm under the impression that I should be able to write my own "game" to display the temperatures, or something like that, and use a flash cart to get it to the GBC.
Anyone know where I can obtain a "dev kit" of sorts to do this? I can pick up a flash kit (cart, connector for the pc) for pretty cheap, so all I really need for this part is the info on how to do it.
As for the probes, I'm hoping I can use the EXT. Port on the side to connect them. If I can't, I can just use a GBA instead, since I have an extra one sitting here too.
Anyone know where I can find out if this is even possible? Where I can obtain a dev kit or something like that to write the "game"?
Yeah. I'm shooting blind during this project, but I didn't expect it to be easy. I'm also doing it so I can learn something so any help would be appreciated.

You probably wanna try a modding site, theres a few out there that have dedicated sections to LCD programing and how to hook them up, etc. Ive got a 4" LCD that I bought a long time ago for $30(Mobile PS1 monitor) that I wanna put in my next case, and I know it isnt gonna be easy.
