Mouse pointer problem

Hi, I am new here. I have a problem with the mouse pointer in running warcraft 3. Instead of giving me the normal hand pointer, it gives me a (stupid) round cursor (look like a scope to me - it looks like the cursor when u press A to order an attack). My friends have this problem when I installed the game on their comps. Further more, during in game, the cool down portrait is not animated. I cant see when the cool down for the spell to keep track for the next cast. Is this the result from the graphic card. I put default for all setting.
My notebook specs:
Compaq Presario 2500 (intel p4)
448 Ram shared with 64Mb ATI Radeon Mobility IGP 345M (chipset is ATI RS2000)
Synaptics Touchpad on PS/2 port and an external USB mouse.
