audio driver problem

im having a problem with my sound card (cmi8738/c3dx pci audio device). everytime i install the driver it says "an error has occurred during the installation of the device: the data us invalid". im pretty sure the driver that i dl is the right one... i need help

What OS are you running?

Sounds like a corrupt driver.
Uninstall/Reinstall it.

XP pro... i tried reinstalling the driver still wont work. i tried switching ports inside still wouldnt work. im pretty much out of ideas since im just an average joe when it comes to computers :\

have u tried to do the install manually?? u know where u pick what u want.....it happened to me that the wizard wouldn't find the driver so i did everything manually and it worked

Try replacing the Driver.cab file.

You can extract it from your XP SP1 disc.

Oho ... Its not in the Drivers.cab file ..I have the same sound system ...
