Playstation 2 Parental Control Reset/Bypass

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: The Annis

Hi! I am new to the forum and need some serious help. My son has a Playstation 2 that I haven't tried to watch a movie on in months. Tonight when I put in The Crow it asked for a parental password. I can't remember even setting one up though I must have and now I can't remember it. Is there anyway to reset the password or bypass it? I have no idea where the paperwork to the deck is and I would really like to watch movies in his room when the other t.v. is in use. Can anyone help? I would really appreciate it. Please email an answer to GeorgeS563@aol.com. Thank you so much.

Annie

At the screen where it ask you to imput the password enter 7444. the old password will be deleted and you will have to setup an new one.

Just leave it blank to not have a password setup.

Hi. I have a similar problem. My password was set when I first bought my system back in June of 04. I didn't really know what I was getting myself into or what I was doing at the time. Every since,I've had to enter the stupid code before I can watch a movie-no matter if it's rated R or PG,.......and I live alone. I don't want any freaking code on there-at all. I just bought the Sony DVD Remote Control yesterday, and it has instructions on how to change it. When I start a movie,I have to enter MY code to start the movie. It says to press select & 7444,but it'll only accept my code to open the movie....nothing else. Pressing select doesn't do a thing untill "AFTER" the movie has already started. And THEN,when I DO get to the parental control option in the control panel (by pressing select after the movie has started),it's NOT highlighted...and pressing X does nothing.....so I can't even access the parental control option....even though I've already entered my personal password in order to play the stupid PG rated movie. LOL....yes,after months of trying to figure this out,I am a teensy weensy bit frustrated. Can someone please help me?

ive posted this sum where else on this site but after u do that whole p/w change the movie should start to play.after it starts to play u MUST STOP IT!! and make sure its stopped.once its stopped bring up the menu by hitting select or the button that says display if u have the remote, then scroll over to the custom setup tab and go down to where u see parental conrtols.u should now b able to highlight it and change your p/w and parental cnotrol level or completly turn it off(u have to scroll all the way to the top to turn it off) and thats basically it. if u have n e more problems or questions find me on AIM s/n EV1L6six6. HOPE THAT HELPS =)

Dvd players are like 35 dollars...

And a playstation you already have doesn't cost anything extra.

I have tried 7444 and 1111 as recommended on a thread earlier. When I start the thing up with the dvd in or reset it after inserting the dvd, it asks if I wish to temporarily adjust the parental control level. I tell it YES and proceed to the next page where I am asked to enter my password, I have tried 7444 and 1111 with no success. ANy other suggestions?

This unit was recently rehabbed, and the password I would have most likely put in does not work either, not that I can be sure I am remembering it correctly.

Thanks!

Here is the procedure to reset the parental lock code:
1. Bring up a screen where the unit asks you to enter in the parental code. You can either insert a restricted disc, or enter the DVD setup menu and go to "parental control" under custom setup.
2. When the screen asks for the code, press the SELECT button, then enter in the code "7444".
3. The level adjustment under Parental Control dictates the strictness of the player. The lower the value, the more strict it will be. Either increase the value to lower the restriction, or disable the lock entirely by setting it to "off".
4. Once you have made your adjustments, be sure that the DVD tray is empty, and press the RESET button on the front of the Playstation 2. It is imperative the tray is clear of any DVD or game for the unit to save your settings.

also you can try entering 0000 for a code, my first ps2 had that as a default code where as my current one came with it turned off.

My brother just received a playstation 2 from a friend who his dad dot from the garbage cause he works as a garbage man but yeh he's cool as **** but an ways I ttok it apart to reset the PS2 and that did not fix the Parental Control Password feature so I looked on here and seen 7444 as one and it worked grate Thank You So Much ALL!

Here is how my brother did it.....

1st when he inserted a DVD it asked to hit yes to temporary set the parental control to 8 so he did and then it asked for a password but my brother had to hit main menu on the remote and it asked to delete the password so he then inserted 7444 and it said deletion completed and then he typed in to register a password 0000 and it started to play the dvd so then he went to the options menu to setup and then to custom setup and on parental controls it has level and then he went to the top and set it to off then he hit enter and then cancel through the rest of the options till you get to the movie.

I hope this helps and we talked about it to get it right for you all this is a grate help site and we thank you so much also when you insert a dvd the next time it will just play and won't ask about the yes or no temp level change .

Thank Yu All AGAIN!

I HAVE TRIED EVERY SINGLE SOLUTION THAT EVERY SINGLE PERSON SAID BUT NONE OF THEM WORK, WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH MY PS2!!!

My Process:

I put the dvd in, and it asks me if I want to temporarily change the parental setting. When I click yes it goes to the password entering screen. Then I press select and it asks me to put in the delete code. When I put in the delete code,(7444) it tells me to put in an alternate code. This is where I could go 2 ways, I could eject the disc and then turn it off and turn it back on with no code, but then it tells me to put a code in to register. The other way I could go is set it to 0000 and then press select when the movie starts and go to setup and then custom setup then go down to parental control, BUT IT IS GRAYED OUT AND IT WILL NOT LET ME ACCESS IT!!

SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY PROCESS!!! I MADE THIS COMPLETELY WORD-FOR-WORD, AND I DID NOT LEAVE ANYTHING OUT!!! I PUT EVERY LITTLE DETAIL IN THIS, SO SOMEONE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH SHOULD BE ABLE TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please reply.

supergamer: I had the same problem, I finally found in the manual (available from playstation.com) it says "This setting is not available during Resume Play." So from the menu, have to select STOP to stop the DVD, and then you can go to the parental options menu and turn off the controls (or turn it on, I guess).

uhhhh, I just saw that evil_666 said the same thing, guess I missed it also
