This was just released today. This is the redistributable version, not the web based version. I havent seen anything that talks about changes/fixes in this version.

Hello

Well i downloaded it and installed it, i am now worse of, due to most of my games erroring and saying either no direct draw found like with simcity 4 rush hour, and try running that game in software rendering is near impossible with it slow and choppy, also divine divinity will not work in direct 3d, and that is bad in software rendering, everytime you move you have to wait for the screen to redraw, now the funny thing here is that my 2 tv cards i have in my computer which use direct draw work fine, now that is wierd

Did you reinstall your video drivers?

Posted by: Andrew7689

Hello

Well i did reinstall the drivers but there was no change.

Just some more information for you i have a sparkle geforce fx 5500, and i am usinf the whql drivers version 56.55, i have tried the new drivers before from nvidia something like version 61.?? but the problem with those is that if i played dvd through tv out it would be in black and white also the 2 tv cards i have in my computer where in black and, since that international download only supported NTSC video on the tv out, but i have not tried those drivers on this new version of direct x, i use my computer to watch digital tv and video programs onto my hard disk when i am not at home, then i can watch the program when i get home.

Anyway that is a progress report so far, i also found out that one of my tv cards does not use direct x, that is why it works, the one that works fine is the MSI intervideo 8606, and my other tv card is an AVER TV DVB-T card and this error and says no direct draw, but the tv pictures still come up, but it is like watching choppy tv, picture stopping and starting every 3 seconds, the sound is ok though.

Hello

Well i thought i would give it a go anyway, so i went to the nvidia website and downloaded the latest drivers version 61.77, international drivers at 20 meg, when i went to install them it said that this is not a certified driver do you want to continue, anyway it installed it then rebooted my computer when i got back into the windows xp i then ran simcity 4, and to my surpise it did not work same exact error, also i tried my Aver tv card and it said no direct draw found, then it said you can still use software though but the picture may be choppy which it is and also you may have poor picture quality, yes, it looks like a week tv signal.

Anyway bad news for direct x 9.0c, might dig a hole and put it down there, that might do some good, don't know, i just have to see if my friend as same problem on saturday, since i updated his direct x, but he has msi geforce 4 mx.

Anyway at least you know now that some people are suffering problems, but i might be the only person that has had this awfull problem, and i just got a new power supply the other day, haven't had my computer running right for months untill last week, other power supply got to warm, there must of been major problems, so that prevented me from using my computer, even with lid off computer it still got to warm.

Also i will have to do something about the green that has gone missing on the monitor, always problems, i know now it is not the monitor or the wire, so it must be the graphics card, i found that out by pluging the monitor into the DVI out using an adapter and the wire and monitor work fine, but then i can't use my tv out at all.

Hello

Solved It

After downloading direct x 9.0c then installing, you will notice that direct 3d and direct draw does not work, well if you go into dxdiag.exe, go into start menu and select run and type dxdiag, then a box will come up, the update disable direct drae and direct x, all you have to do is go to display tab, then just re enable it.

Yes, solved it, i'm very happy now, just something simple in the end.

Andrew

That's a large oversight...the new version disabling direct draw and direct3d by default.

Well after installing the 9.0c version I too was having issues with blocky text and screen redraw. I tried all of the suggestions for changing the frame rates, updating video drivers, lowering hardware acceleration etc etc... Nothing worked 100 percent.

I decided to try update the drivers for all my hardware. I found relief to these problems after I updated the drivers for my hard drive controller? what this would have anything remotely to do with screen redraws is beyond me but it now seems to be fixed
