You need to first go into 'add/remove programs' and remove any programs that were installed for your onboard ATI video card. Then, go into 'Device Manager' and remove the ati video card device from there. That will uninstall the drivers. Then reboot. If the screen goes blank as soon as you remove the device, hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot.
As its rebooting, get into your CMOS setup, usually by pressing 'Del' key.
You need to disable the onboard video card. This setting will be in one of the pages, possibly 'Advanced Chipset Features'. While you are in that screen, there should also be a setting for AGP. You need to set that according to the new video cards specs.
Also, in that screen or another one, there will be a feature called VGA pallette snoop. You need to make sure this is disabled.
Save your settings and exit.
When windows starts up, it will announce it has 'Found New Hardware'. When asked if you wish for Windows to install drivers, you should click 'Cancel'. Then insert the CD that came with your new video card into your cd-rom drive to "autorun" it.
From there, you should just have to follow its directions. Once its done, it'll probably tell you to reboot. If it doesn't, reboot anyway.
Let me know if this helps...
