NASA Retires UARS

NASA has announced it's plans to pull the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS), a satellite that has measured the ozone hole for the last 10 years.

The satellite was a large drain on NASA's resources, with an operating cost of $10 million a year. As that is, many scientists that have been studying the ozone layer are outraged by the decision.

NASA plans to shut UARS off on September 30th and either pull it in via shuttle or let it fall to the earth somewhere between 2016 and 2067.

Well we can't have this satellite informing everyone of the ozone depletion now can we!?!?

With the energy crisis in the US, we need to squash anything that could stop us from destroying more rain forest and burning coal or nuclear waste.

Come on!

Get with the program!

there is no real evidence that america is to blame for a naturally occuring phenomena. thats like blaming the US for typhoons in asia just because....

Sure coincides well.
No one is saying the US is to blame for anything.
But if I had an energy crisis in my country and I had to start burning more fossil fuels which are proven to damage the atmosphere...I'd be gettin rid of anything that *COULD* prove any blame.

Screw the earth anyway.
Lets just pave the entire surface!
That way, no one is to blame.
