jumperfree mode on a7v8x-x

I have a just built my first computer
spec: asus a7v8x-x board
256 pc3200 kingston ram
athlon 2800xp+
450 watt power supply
GeForce FX5900 128mb
When it is all together and turned on the computer shuts off while in BIOS
I have swapped power supplys, made sure ram and video card were seated and ram in dimm 1, reset cmos, fans are all spinning, ive checked the power switch wire and still the problem persists. I seen something about jumperfree mode in my bios being required to change certain settings. on my board over by the power switch pins i see were it says jumperfree mode but there are no pins for it to jumper or remove jumper. Can anyone please enlighten me on how to go about switching to jumperfree and is this even what i want to do. I have no thermal paste to re- apply if I remove the heatsink. HELP!!!!!
