I''ve windows XP installed in my system . Add/remove programs file c:\windows\system32\appwiz.cpl file got corrupted somehow. So i deleted the same and extracted it back form the XP installation cd . Restarted the system. Now when i open the Add/Remove programs list from the control panel, nothing appears in the installed programs list
Is there any way to get the list back? I've lots of softwares installed in my system which doesn't have their own uninstallation program.
One more thing i noticed , Programs currently being installed also are not captured under add/remove programs !!!
Please help me to resolve the issue
Thanks
John

Hi John,
Believe that you have Windows XP.
Try this:
sfc /scannow at run prompt
I am also aware of a .cpl virus.....see if you can get some info about it.
Hope you get teh best solution.

I would love to know "how" you deleted it. I also have a corrupted appwiz.cpl file that I cant delete. As soon as I delete it, it reappears in like 5 seconds... Strange...I havent been able to use add/remove in months, and Im too lazy to do a reformat. LOL
