VIA 686B and Sound Cards

VIA Hardware has an article up examining the problems between Creatives sound blaster Live and the VIA 686B Southbridge that supports ATA100. They also ran other sound cards through the test as well. Here's a brief snip:

There are many possible answers to why the data corruption occurs. The most common answer to the issue points to Creative to be at fault. When Creative designed the SB Live, they didn’t design it to support PCI Bus mastering, therefore when in use, the SB Live hogs the PCI bus."
