Mozilla question - Mouse3 click

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Is there anyway to disable mouse3 clicking (which opens a new browser window, or keeps the same browser window, while opening a new URL to whatever was last highlighted) in Mozilla? It's annoying the crap out of me because I like scrolling through webpages with my mouse, and the mousewheel sucks, so I often times end up clicking on the mousewheel while scrolling through a page... with the result of a new browser window popping up, or just a new page loading a URL to whatever random word my mouse happened to be hovering over at the time.

What about the mousewheel sucks?

You could install the autoscroll extension which emulates IE's autoscroll function, not quite as smooth, but there are autoscroll.js modifictions that can be made that improve it a lot.

You could also install the smoothwheel extension which is similar to IE's smooth scrolling feature, but I would recommend v0.40 instead of the more recent 0.41 because I could not get the smoothscroll.js (controls speed and smoothness of scrolling) customization to work using the newer version which installs to the profile folder instead of the app folder.

type about:config in the location bar and press enter; find these lines (type middle into the filter field):

browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick

middlemouse.contentLoadURL

middlemouse.openNewWindow

right click and select modify on each line and change the value to false for each.

Wow, you rock. That totally worked.

Thanks!
