hello...newbie here!

i have a p3 on xp with a 40 gb drive and 512 of ram, that no longer boots up. i was downloading some programs when i got this message...

boot record not found
ide 0 not found
cdrom not found
etc...

then,
rpl-rom-adr:XXXXXXXXX
rpl-rom-irq:xxxxxxxx
rpl-rom-ffcconts up)

i understand that this is a nic address through novell, and the last line is a time-out count for a multicast of some sort. how do i fix this!? i use adsl through telus and this is an average, non-networked home computer. i have searched for help and found that i may need a boot.ini from an xp disc....problem is that i dont have a boot disc or an xp disc...i know, i know. any help is much, much appreciated.....it sucks being without my computer!

What happens when you go into the bios, is the hdd and cdrom recognized there?
Check your bios settings first.
