problem at boot up

HI,
OK, I have recently been having some difficulty at boot up. Every time I turn on my computer I get a whole lot of system info (I know a little about computers but I`m not
exceptionally knowledgeable, so I don`t know if any of it is relevant) and at the bottom it
gives me a two line message like
could not find boot record for floppy drive
could not find boot record for cd-rom drive
then it asks me to insert a boot disk. The only way Ive been able to get around the problem is manually booting from my HD (I.E. going to boot selection at startup and picking my HD) I couldnt tell you when exactly this started or what I did to make it do what it is doing (obviously I would try to undo it if I did) but I am like I said not exactly an expert and very hesitant to try messing with my bios in order to fix it. I tried going into setup and changing the boot order but it doesnt change anything. If there is any information you could give me, I would greatly appreciate it.
My system specs:
OS: winXP pro
Processor: AMD Athlon 2K ~1.7g
HD: 80gig
MEM: DDR 1024mb
Vid: Radeon 9800pro 256mb
If any other info is necessary let me know.
also all my drivers are up to date.

hmmm sounds to me like your bios settings, try changing teh boot order in the bios to:
1st cdrom
2nd floppy
3rd hd1 or whatever your mobo calls it and remember to save before exiting the bios. all the maessages are is that your pc isnt finding a boot record to start up from. i know you have tried this but there is nothing else that springs to mind immediately that could be the problem.
if you only have two boot selections available then try making your hd first ans see if you still get the error message.
sorry i can be of more help to you.
