Windows Media Player doing it's own thing !!

I just had my computer totally cleaned - everything uninstaller & re-installed because of viruses, trojan horses etc.......All clean now - however every so often Windows Media Player will 'take over' my computer. It will keep opening up on it's own while I am in the middle of typing an e-mail or a word doc, whatever, very frustrating. I reboot , but it really doens't seem to help.
Any suggestions?

(I have Windows Xp Professional, Windows 2000 ( think, can't exact;y remember) I'll get more exact info if required.

first of all, disconnect your computer from the internet, and work on it offline for a while to see if it opens up on its own. if it doesnt, then connect back to the internet. if it does again, then you have a trojan. or a type of virus that allows someone else to control parts or all of your computer through the internet.

What version of WMP are you using? v7.1 and 8.0 are vulnerable to a remote "attack", but since you didn't say you were browsing the web at the time, it doesn't seem to apply.
Have you visited Windows Update since you reinstalled?
