Fat32 to NTFS conversion

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Is it possible to convert a hard drive with a format of Fat32 to NTFS WITHOUT formating the drive and losing all data? I was under the impression that it is not, but someone is telling me otherwise.

its possible, but there is always a chance youll lose the data in the process. youll have to back it all up, at which point, you might as well do a fresh format anyway.

Oh .. You wanted FAT32 to NTFS conversion ..
XP's built in Convert utility does the job very well .. No data loss yet ..

I read somewhere (its a while ago, so I do not remember where) that if you convert fat32 to ntfs with windows built in option, then some ntfs options are not fully enabled. I would research this a bit more before doing it. A total back, reformat, restore is always better.
