I am having problems starting my PC. Here is some information about my computer. It is a Gateway 2000 P5-75, the Processor is Pentium with speed 75MHk, and the operating system is Windows 98. As you can tell this thing is very old. The PC came with hard drive WCD AC 2700F, which is drive C on the computer, and we also put another hard drive in it a few years after we bought it the other drive is D-Maxtor 71626 AP, which is drive D on the computer.
OK this is what happened. I was connecting to the inter new with 56k and when it was connecting while it was making that weird noise the computer froze, then the computer started to make a weird clicking noise like a ball bouncing up and down. I tried to restart the computer with Ctrl + Alt + Delete but the computer was frozen. So I hit the restart button on the computer. The computer started up fine and then it stared scanning the hard drives for errors. It first checked the D drive, when it got to 95% the computer froze and it stated making the clicking sound again. Well I had no choice so I hit the restart button again. This time the computer detected the Floppy drive and then just stopped doing any thing. And this is what is happening ever time I try to start the computer.
I have tried to start the computer in safe mod but after the computer detects the floppy drive it stops working. I also used the Back up set up disk for the computer and try so scan the hard drives for errors and the C drive is fine but when the computer try’s to check the D drive it freezes and the starts making that clicking sound again.
So that is all I got to say is there any one out there that can help me!!!
