Tele frickin marketers.

Okay, so I have this huge problem with telemarketers. I receive an AVERAGE of 10 calls per day. I'm not sure what I did to warrant something like that, but there it is.

The last few days I've gotten several calls where they put ME on ****ing hold. They called my residence, and put me on hold. What the hell is that? Who told them that would be a valid tactic?

Even if they fooled some gullible person into thinking this was an important call, who wouldn't be pissed after waiting on hold for God knows how long, to find out you we're sitting there waiting for some person to finish reading craptacular nonsense to some stupid brain dead zombie dumb enough to sit there and listen?

I know these people are just, well...People. Working to make a living like everyone else. But I still hate them. I hate them so very much.

I never had this problem while I was living out beside cow pasture01 in nowheresville. I got maybe one or two calls at the most a week out there. This last year in my new abode has been hellish though.

Well, there it is.

good lord man, sign up for the federal do not call list.

Tell them about the wonderful products Amway offers, and try to interest them in a high-paying work-at-home career as one of yoru Amway stooges. Either that or try to convert them to the Church of the Latter Day Saints.

Or sign up for the federal do not call list. I did when it was first established, and I get almost no calls any more. The only calls I get aren't sales calls, they important information about new services available for existing card members

amazing, thats pretty much the same ones i get. oh, and replacement windows.......

I used to have the same problem. I hate to admit it, but I bought a TeleZapper, and the endless calls have gone down to about 2 a week (if that). And also, it's real people, no more robots.
It should be noted that I bought my TeleZapper at Walmart (about a year ago), and it only put me back $15 bucks.

Hope you find something that works for ya!

Cheers!

The do not call list worked for me. Went from 5-6 calls per day to maybe 2 per week. If that.

My friends are constantly scheming of ways to mess with them but I personally don't think that's very nice. They're just doing thier jobs. I'm sure they don't actually enjoy annoying people at home, but it puts food on thier table.

I switched over to using my cell phone only. I haven't had a traditional land line in almost three years (except when I needed one for my DSL service for a few months, and then I just never gave out the number). I get no telemarketing -- the one telemarketing call I did receive, I just said "This is a cellphone. Please give me the name and address of your company so I can be reimbursed for the airtime charges, and immediately remove this number permanently from your list." Some of my friends have used this on telemarketers who call their regular telephones, and it's seemed to work for them.

Oh, and when stores ask for your phone number, because they "need it to complete your purchase record"? Tell them you're "between phone numbers at the moment."

I've been thinking of doing a combination of changing the number and the do not call list thing. But I LIKE my number. It rolls off the tongue, very easy to remember for people. Oh well. Telezapper, do not call list and insane ramblings when they do get through may defeat them.

Most of the ones I get are from travel agencies. Or towns promoting the tourist value of their city.

The TeleZapper website is quite amusing. Not sure if I would buy it though, considering the fact that its website is so amusing.

Just say you aren't of legal age and your parents aren't home. Works for me.

I do to. I thank them for their time and for the offer, wish them a nice day, and say good bye. "Ohnobutthankyoufortheofferhaveanicedaygoodbye" then give them about two seconds to say "Thankyougoodbye" and then hang up.

I got the idea of trying to convert them to Mormon or Amway from a friend of mine in college. It was hugely hilarious, but takes more effort than just a polite no thanks adios. It was pretty damned funny to listen to him go, though.

i talk about eating a delicious hamburger right now.

If you wanna f'k them up, when they call ask them politely to please hold on a sec. Then go and grab another phone, turn it on and hold the phones together so that the earpiece from one is right on the mic of the other and the other the same way. It will make an extremely high pitched noise. And it isnt pleasant, thats for sure.

I like the phone butler though. A redneck version of that would be awesome. "Get your ass off the phone and quit callin these folks up".

i worked as a telemarketer 10 or so years ago, I kept the job for about 4 hours. it is a terrible job not only do you realize what an annoying jerk you are but you have to deal with people like skyhn who try to make your life hell. i have no problem with you tactics skyhn though they don't work to deter more telemarketing calls. most calls you get the person is just sitting in front of a computer with a headset on, the computer dials a number every time you hang up the line or get hung up on. so for all of you who try to drive the callers crazy it really does no good, just a sort of warped self-entertainment, which I have indulged in myself. i sometimes just ask them to hold on a just go back to what i was doing.

Oh I know it works because Ive gotten callbacks a few seconds later telling me how rude it was

Thats when I tell them not to call here anymore and if they give me an attitude, they get it again. Ive argued with telemarketers for 10/15 mins before. Most of them are told not to do that, but theres those people out there who cant let go and like to argue(like myself).
