An Intriguing Bit of Adware

High everyone, I hope your day is as pleasant as mine!

Recently I've run into a bit of adware that has become rather annoying. It's called adsrv.qoologic and it detects what I type into a search engine and opens up a new window relating to that topic. It will also generate new windows advertising completely random products and services when I'm not even using the internet.

I've run Ad-Aware, and Spybot S&D. Ad-Aware found nothing and Spybot found two DSO exploits which I deleted. Even after deleting them though they reappear and I'm getting these ad windows again.

I'm using SpwareBlaster and Spyware Guard, neither of which helped. My HijackThis scan didn't find anything unusual upon scanning. Isn't that interesting.

Where could this thing be hanging out? What makes those DSO exploits keep reappearing? If anyone knows I would really appreciate some input/discussion on the matter.

Thanks for your help!!

whats in your task manager? make sure you turn system restore off before you use spybot to remove it. do you have your registry locked? im sure you have everything updated, but rerun all the updates manually.

if you know when it started appearing, you can search for files created or modified on that date, and wander through them.

as for where, the oddest place ive heard of malware lurking was in nortons. it would keep reinstalling the spyware after he removed it. took forever for the guy to track it down. try booting into safe mode after removing, and see if they show up then.
