Games crash when i try to quit
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have been having the same problem with both Call of Duty and Doom 3. Whenever I press quit the whole thing freezes and i can only close it by doing ctrl+alt+del and it doesn't even close it properly (the brightness that was set on the game seems to carry over to the desktop).
Can anyone help me out?
My system specs are -
Athlon 2500+
1280MB RAM (1 gig of it is new)
GeForce 6800GT (new)
No sound card

The brightness thing seems to indicate a video driver problem, as I've seen it happen with Radeon cards before. My suggestion would be to, if possible, run the games in a window and see if the problem still occurs. If the games can't be run in a window, make sure your desktop's resolution and color depth are the same as your game's and then try again.
Just so you know... there's no guarantee that you'll get a response here, but a lot of people browse this forum, and someone will eventually come along with a solution or a comment.

Got a BFG 6800 GT o/c couple days ago.....now Doom 3 freezes everytime I quit...also like you C.O.D. just freezes totally.......I tried a system restore to earlier date ...no luck
For the first time in my life I sent an "error report" to Microsoft...bizarrely it cane up with a solution. Reckoned it was Nero in c.d. 4 that needed an update..well I updated it, and it still crashes.
Hope someone sorts this out..I bought this card to play Doom in all its glory..also..I wanna play the new C.O.D. expansion pack..looks like Im knackered.
I kept my old 9800 pro...good job!!

Driver no 66.10 on the 3D guru web site has saved the day!!
Elsewhere on this forum, somebody advised to try this driver....I downloaded it last night, shortly after seeing the advice here.
I uninstalled the latest popular driver..61.77 and loaded this one..and hey presto!! ....all my crash problems were gone. In fact both games (Doom 3 and C.O.D.) are running better than ever
Go get that driver!!
Its a beta driver..but better then the more "official" one.
Thanks "open tech"
