Fabulous! I knew he supported gay rights, but who would've figured? I suppose the GOP will jump on this one and attack the Dems for being such filthy mansluts, but hey, what can you do?
edit: this has been a pretty interesting week for gay rights. First, the San Francisco marriages have been made void, and now this! Why won't the government let them pay more taxes, like the rest of the world?

why is there even a difference? It's not that big a deal.

Could you tone down the anti-republican bullshit around here please? I love how you, the prominent 16 year old liberal, attack the reblicans by saying they will use this to attack the democrats. 90% of your attacks have no merit, including this one.

He's not resigning because he's gay, but because he was shamed to have cheated on his wife.

THIS IS NOT A GAY RIGHTS ISSUE
Posted by: Canis Lupus
uhm, let's cut down on the hostility in this topic, perhaps?
my suspicion is that there is some sort of scandal behind all of this that may be related to McGreevey's sexuality, and he probably decided to resign before any rumors hit the press. It is probably not related to being homosexual, but to the fact that he had extramarital affairs ... any heterosexual person who has committed adultery while in position and is fearful of it being disclosed will probably choose resignation as a logical course... unless of course you're Clinton
McGreevey just took it step by step. First, he says he will resign. Next he says the reason why, which is - he has had extramarital affairs, but with a man, because he's a gay American. Note that he said "Gay American" instead of just "I am gay", implying that he is proud and not ashamed to be both things...
There is so much homophobia brought about by pseudo-conservative America that it's becoming a really bad excuse for their own insecurities...

First off, that article was either published too early to cover the 'scandal' that could unfold here in the coming months, or didn't get the same information that ABC picked up as showed here:

Even as he made the announcement, a lawsuit was expected to be filed by his former homeland security adviser, Golan Cipel, in Mercer County, N.J., Court, sources told ABC News.

Drudge is claiming its a sexual harassment civil suit, so we'll see what happens.
Second, in regard to the Clinton comment, I don't think this has really been as big of a deal until the time Karl Rove was awoken from his cave dwelling slumber of pushing little children into traffic to take on Bubba.

I doubt there is any significance behind this. The guy obviously has no political career to look forward to, so there would be no reason to play up the audience with an American reference.

I started writing a long reply until I realized I misinterpreted who you were refering to by "their own insecurities."

actually there more senators and congressman from boths sides of the aisle then you could count on both hands that have cheated on there wives and never considered resigning. though this is not a gay rights issue, i believe that the scandal would have been more managable if he had not been gay. he not only cheated on his wife but he also was living a unimaginable lie about who he was/is. plus factor the aide that might be suing for sexual harrasment and the charges of blackmail its starts to get much uglier then a extra-martial affair. but it seems that this is just normal new jersey politics, it gets wierder every year.

sorry, been off with schoolwork, but I caught this story way before it was ready. And yea, it's not the gay thing, I just was sayin that it's a strange coincidence that he happened to be gay. Also, a lot of people ride off the fact that I am 16 like I know nothing. This will be the world that I will get after y'all, and I like rights for all peoples, black, white, gay, straight, etc., as it was meant to be. And sorry that the GOP is the group that uses the "gay" issue to get attention away from the war and economy. Although I doubt I'll jump on the Dems as bad as the GOP on anything right now, I'm more than happy to be an angry Democrat. I just use recent history as to how the GOP will act. On a lighter side, I quote "The Onion" with "Gay man tearfully admits to being governor of New Jersey"
