Detecting proxy settings...?

I have two computers at home, but only one is connected to the internet with DSL. One day, i just couldn't connect to the internet, but the light on the network card is green and says there is a connection. I tried to go online with my other computer, and was able to connect and surf the internet from the same connection. Whenever i try to connect with Internet explorer 6 it says it cannot find the search page and in the status bar it says "downloading from site:res//C:\system\shdoclc\dnserror.htm.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

If you didn't change any network settings, and it just suddenly stopped working, then I would suggest first running a virus scan. Follow up with a spyware/adware scan (Ad-Aware or Spybot), and clean any infected files. If you are still having problems after the scans, try running HijackThis, and post your log here. We'll help you decipher the file.

If you have already done that, or don't think that's the issue, try using a different web browser, such as FireFox.
