I am in college right now, in Poughkepsi NY Guessing I am pretty close to GB and s0ma.

The move in was pretty easy except for it being ridiculously hot out, other then that it was fine. Has anyone else moved in to their dorms yet? How are you liking everything so far?

Posted by: uh...ok

I didn't have to move in this year coz I stayed for the summer... heh...

Welcome to college. I hear it doesn't suck at other places.

Posted by: redwench

no, it pretty much sucks everywhere.......

Posted by: AK47

college sucks?

I missed that memo.

Posted by: Gunslinger

So did I.

Posted by: Gerbilo

College rocks!! I just visit though, I don't actually go haha

Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo

Heh! i didnt have to move cuz i worked here during the summer . I HATE moving and i vowed to always stay on-campus during the summer.

So how is your Dorm room like? i am in the upperclassmen dorms which, incidentally, is called the Towers. I have my own kitchen and bathroom (could not stand the communal bathrooms our Freshman dorms offered).

Having a high GPA has its advantages

College is what you make it, I had a fantastic first year. Sure there were rough parts, but if I didn't have a challenge, I woundn't be ready for a career later. One thing that I would very strongly recommend is to have a good roommate though. I'm a pretty tough person meaning that I can tolerate a lot from others, however, I had a wacked out roomate all last year and an even more wacked out one over the summer and it put a lot of strain on me. However, they were about the weirdest social catastrophes I have ever seen so you prolly won't get stuck with someone that weird. Just beware though!

Posted by: Bishop

please define and elaborate upon 'wacked out' so that I may possibly fit your description and take righteous offense.

Posted by: armystud0911

I don't have a problem with people who have odd interests, I have a problem with people who talk in my ear 8hours a day about dumb stuff like thier projected financial situation next semester. I also have a problem with people who use my computer without my permission every second that I am not using it and then hack into it when I lock them out of it. One time I actually had to physically remove him from my chair cuz he wouldn't get off. I also define "wacked out" as someone who tries to force me to watch politics on Cspan every evening and attempt to insult me cuz I don't know what is being voted on every day. Both of them were so bad that I wouldn't dare ask a question because I knew a 30minute+ answer awaited me. I also don't like it when my roommate is so incredibly safety cautious that he wants me to have everyone in the frat house shut off their computers before I plug mine in because he thought it might cause a breaker to blow.
My roommates both seemed to have a sort inferiority complex where they felt they had to prove to me that they knew waaaay more than me about that stuff that I liked and that I was stupid for not liking what they did.
I sincerely hope and do not think that you fit this description, if you do however, I advise that you seek help before becoming someones roommate.

Its my second day here. It is hot as balls!! I go further up north and it gets hotter, fun fun. Its even worse being on the top floor of my dorm (9th) . My roomate is cool we get a long so thats a big plus.

My dorm room is a nice size, I will take some pictures of it and post them probably tomorrow. So far so good, but classes start tomorrow with Philosophy and Writing, we will see how they go

Posted by: armystud0911

I had myself an 8th floor room and I loved it, there was a balcony overlooking the entire campus, at night it was beautiful.

Posted by: Bishop

I have odd interests.

Posted by: Bix VT

we know.

Posted by: redwench

guess what? his interests are odder than you realize......

Posted by: laborat

so? I am amazed that odd still elicts a mention on this site. heheheheheheh.... especially from RED who we know makes odd seem normal at times... (insert smirky smilie here) just kidding RED you know I love you.

It's what can't be mentioned on the site that's shocks and appalls.

Guess I missed out on all the fun of college.. didn't graduate HS.. got my GED and started working.. did go to a Tech school.. but not the same.. it was more of a HS Feel..

Have fun.. but not to much fun.. you'll learn alot..

Posted by: RAcastClarke

Poughkeepsie, eh?

You're not that far away from me, maybe a day's drive.

Don't expect a visit, though. I don't think you'll mind.

Anyway, college is coming up for me as well. I'm looking at a school in Vermont, and one in Utica. I've heard mixed results about colleges, but I think it's something as fun as you make it to be. Remember though, college is about academics as much as it's about having a good (perfectly legal) time.

Posted by: Bix VT

Lol Clarke, you live about a day's drive from ME. I think you're a little closer than that to Po-town.

Posted by: RAcastClarke

Scary, ain't it?

Not like it matters, I just got my permit. haven't driven a foot yet.

And I was talking about college.

Posted by: Bix VT

Oh, I thought you were talking about the years, not the schooling.

My bad. I retract all previous statements, as they make me look like a moron.

Posted by: Gerbilo

Um... i'm walking into this blind.. cause i'm too lazy/drunk to read.. but... college is expensive, i'm ****ed on that fact.. how bout all yourselves?

i'm tempted to move to GA... Instate school is free.. i'd move... live for 6 months to claim residency for free school... hell yes...

Posted by: Bix VT

...I can read your post gerb. You aren't drunk enough.

GA has free schooling for residants? Is that community college or university?

Posted by: Bobaroo

School is pricey. I have 13k in loans and scholorships. Parents picked up some and grandpa did the rest

Posted by: Bobaroo

O yea, my room. I know they aren't good pictures, but I am to lazy to fix the lighting and everything.

Back Front

I also have a nice view of the hudson river

Posted by: Gerbilo

It's any Georgia state instution--examples being UGA, Georgia State, and Georgia Tech. I'm not sure of the exact number, but I think that any high school student who has a 3.2 (?) and a certain minimum ACT score (that is very attainable) receives a full scholarship to the state school of their choosing.

Go go gadget lottery.

Bob: Yeah, nice digs for a dorm room.

Edit: I suddenly remembered the name of the scholarship program. Post first, research later.
