Introducing the Logitech MX1000

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The worlds first mouse to use a Laser. Usually I keep up with this stuff and would have known about this for months, but this is the first Ive seen of this.

Its getting rave reviews all over. It has a lithium ion battery rather than NiMH in the MX700/900's, as the laser probably uses quite a bit more power. It seems like its wider than the MX700 though. Ive been using the MX700 for almost 2 years now and I dont know if I could switch to this new one cold turkey. Probably will wait for bestbuy to start selling them and try it there.

Things I like about it: The laser(duh), the digital battery meter and the Lithium Ion battery.

Wow. I'd go for it in a second if it were more suited to my hand

does it come in a combo?

(damn i wish they had some high end ambidextrous mouses

No combo yet. Its really not "Officially" out yet. Only a select few places have it. They have a bluetooth version coming out as well.

What, exactly, is so great about it? I hate to sound ignorant or somethin'. I mean, I've been using the Logitech Trackman Wheel mouse for a long time now. It seems to work just perfectly. I mean, it doesn't need a mouse pad and hardly requires cleaning. *Shrug.* I mean, I see it's cordless, but I've never had the cord be a problem.

It uses a laser instead of optical. A laser is over 20x more accurate than optical. And laser can be used on ANY surface, including glass(which is the smoothest surface you could use). For FPS gaming, this thing is god.

Ah, ok. So, no more of that edging the mouse ever so carefully on sliders or somethin'. Ha.. I have trouble with some of those things. I move it and it'll go back and forth, say, between 104 and 98, when I want an even 100, and the program won't let ya use the arrow keys. Heh. But yea, I could see how the accuracy would help tremendously in my FPS gaming.

You also don't need to change the battery every 2-3 days either.

You dont on the MX700 either. It comes with NiMH rechargeables. I just throw it on the charger when I go to sleep, charges up in a few hours. THe longest I used it without a full charge was about 5 days.
