Moving NTFS HD to new computer

hello all,I haven't been to active since my stroke a few months back, but now I'm feeling the need to tinker
I want to move my NTFS WD HD 80GB 7200rpm to my new BioStar mobo.
What I need to know is should I low level format the drive or zero it out before installing or let my XP disk do the format for me?
If this sounds like a stupid question it's because I get confused real easy,I have my Nephew doing the work for me all I have to do is tell him how.
Thanks

after backing up, let the xp disk partition, and then format it. unless it encounters a problem, no need to use another program.
