Commodore 64 Remembered

For a long time, the C64 kicked the PC's ass as far as gaming goes. Besides having a ton of games available of which many were free, some of the games were well designed and fun to play despite the extreme limitations.

A couple games that come to mind as my favorites are Legacy of the Ancients. An awsome RPG from Electronic Arts no less. I wonder why they stopped making RPG's. Druid was another one that came to mind. It played very much like Gauntlet but a lot better. Bolder Dash was another cool game despite the shoddy graphics.

Of course this is back in the 80's and now the PC rules. Even though severely limited, I could probably still play some of those cool games if I can find the emulator files.

And you can't forget the AD&D gold box series. The PC soon evolved way above about that time and the C64 vanished into computer history.

I had a C64 back in the day. But since it was very early in my gaming life, I don't really remember what games I might have had. Two come to mind: Choplifter and Wheel of Fortune.

Anyone remember Wastland...that was an addictive RPG. You can almost think of it as the precursor to Fallout for the PC. Another favorite was Karateka, a side scrolling karate game. Both for the 64, and the 128.

Just had to add my two cents about the computer I learned to program on. (This was my second computer I ever owned after a Timex Sinclair I mail ordered from England). I have fond memories of purchase of it, the 1702 Monitor and the 1541 diskdrive (was so happy...had been using a tape recorder until then). Temple of Aphai was my first game and that barkeep who kept dropping the keys to the dungeon. And chako, I remember wasteland well as I played it to death. Still never finished that game and have it stored somewhere. : )

My ex-wife took my Commodore 64 with her!

they had a Atari 2600 for sale in this store for 24$.

was in good condition, had 3 joysticks and came with asteroids.

for a dollar each, they also had 6 5500 games.

Quite a deal.

And to think I used my old C128 as a door stop for a year before tossing it out.
