Problems Reading Burned CD

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi I have a Dell dimension 4100 Pentium 3, 512 mb RAM, 55 giga byte hard drive CPU. This system initially came with windows ME but after having many problems with this OS i reformatted my computer and in the process upgraded to windows XP. Before I reformatted my CPU however I created some CD's with programs I wanted to save. Now when I stick these burned CD's into my CD-ROM drive they just spin and spin, but don't get read and the drive stops responding. I have a Samsung SD-612 cd rom drive, and it reads other cd's just fine. I would think that my cd's are corrupted, but my dad's computer reads them fine. How can I get my computer to read these cd's? On a similar question, one member said something about old adaptec software harming computers. Before I reformatted my computer, I had Adaptec's Create CD program installed, could this be responsible for my problems and if so what can i do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well thanks for your help. I appreciate it. I think I just need a new cd-rom.
