This is my girlfriend's computer, she got it from HP a few years ago and now it is sunddenly turning off completely at random. I think it may be the PSU but I am not sure. There is no error screen, no nothing. It is just on, then it turns off. Has anyone else seen this happen before?

run all maintenance programs, as well as virus and spyware scans. clean the crap out of the computer case, and monitor the temperature of the cpu using software. the manufacturer of the motherboard should have a program available. check that the chipset, cpu, and power supply fans are all at least working.

I ran all maiuntence, spyware, adware, all that fun removal stuff. Stiull doing it, the computer is cool, all the fans are working. I cleaned the dust out as well.

make sure the ups has a good battery charge and all the cables are firmly seated. note the conditions under which it shuts down as well.
