Tomorrow

OMWOGNPAOIUNEPFOIWENTGON~!!

Posted by: Gerbilo

damnit... i don't need to keep spending money on stuff like this!! but i know i'm gonna

Posted by: Maverick

youre into star wars, jim?

Posted by: SKYHN

Did anyone pre-order? I pre-ordered in March.

Posted by: taco_fox

Solo shot first

Posted by: Bishop

I don't like to think of it as solo shot first, I like to think of it as solo can distort his neck at whatever inane angle as was portrayed.

Posted by: Tecil

I'll buy it, just for the sake of owning "authentic" versions, but I'll probably end up watching my "origina/ unchanged" DVDs more.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

hell, I'm buying it for the commentaries and special features/documentaries/featurettes alone

I hope they have the clip of where Kurt Russel screentested for the role of Han Solo - he was awesome

Posted by: SKYHN

I heard that the 'special edition' stuff can be turned on and off. They made them seperate chapters on the dvd with the original and special edition. Thats why each movie is on a Dual Layer seperately.

Posted by: Tecil

Most of the reviews I've read so far haven't made mention of any feature like that. They only discussed all of the new and edited content that was added.

Posted by: SKYHN

Are they reviews of the actual DVD that someone has or like amazon where everbody has reviewed it based off of forum discussions?

Posted by: Tecil

The IGN review was the first I read.
http://dvd.ign.com/articles/545/545786p1.html

And I read this one over the weekend.
http://www.thedigitalbits.com/revie...arstrilogy.html

Posted by: SKYHN

Perhaps what I read was false then. Would have been a nice feature though. Some of the added stuff was good, like when their on cloud city and walk by that window, but other stuff I didnt care for like the extra tentacles and that big mouth added to the sarlac.

And Solo shot first. Hes a smuggler, they do what they can to survive.

Posted by: Bishop

solo did not shoot first, he has a spine that can dislocate at will.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Haha, remember this topic?
http://www.opentechsupport.net/foru...ead.php?t=19337

Guess some of those rumors were true after all

Posted by: SKYHN

I dotn wanna read the reviews cuz I dont want spoilers of anything that was added, but is the 5.1 sound TRUE 5.1 sound or did they just dub 2 channels into 5?

Posted by: Tecil

This is the only thing I have found in any of the reviews that says anything worth while. The rest just say the audio is good...shrug

Taken from the IGN reviews.

They managed to take a movie made back in the day of mono and got a decent Dolby Digital 5.1 EX mix out of it.

Posted by: SKYHN

They should have been able to make it true 5.1 sound, all the dialogue, sound effects and music are all on seperate tracks. And they remastered them to digital when they did the 'special edition' showings in the theaters.

Posted by: Wacheif

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Star Wars in the morning, Smallville season premiere in the evening ... time to stock up on popcorn and beer... oh, and cigs

Anyone who doesn't like Star Wars was bawling when they watched Steel Magnolias...

Posted by: SKYHN

LOFL, I was gonna cancel my pre-order from amazon and just go pick it up at bestbuy or something cuz I figured it wouldnt get here for a few days. Then I get an email telling me it shipped and it will be here by th 23rd. And I thought "Damn, that sucks". Then I check the tracking status, its gonna be delivered today. It shipped from nevada and the part of nevada it shipped from is in the 1 day zone for california

Posted by: Bix VT

the rogue stormtrooper did it.

Posted by: SKYHN

Hoooray, its still coming today

I guess the problem happening at 4am wasnt one of those big delay things. Probably a conveyor belt broke at the warehouse

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Just bought it a couple hours ago from Best Buy ... it was very funny while I was on my way into the store - almost everyone stepping out had the Star Wars DVD in their bags, lol ...

The lines were fairly long at the checkout counter, and 3/4 of all the people lined up also had the SW DVDs, hehe ... my only gripe about the DVD is that they probably reversed the colors for the versions ... I think Widescreen should be GOLD, not silver

Gonna watch these babies tomorrow

Posted by: SKYHN

Well DAMN it isnt coming today. Its back on the delayed status again. That really sucks.

Maybe Ill go Battlefronts.

Posted by: Bishop

In related news, battlefront is awesome.

I haven't watched any of the three main DVDs yet, but I did watch the trilogy documentary "Empire of Dreams" from the bonus material DVD yesterday... It's a very excellent look at the making of all three trilogies, it surpassed what I was hoping for about knowing the backstory of Star Wars (it was pretty surprising about how Steven Spielberg was supposed to be the director of Return of the Jedi if not for Lucas's "feud" with the filmmaker/writer guilds)...

Very good stuff here ... I'll be viewing the rest of the featurettes all day today, and maybe the films themselves before Smallville starts

Posted by: Bishop

did you mean three movies, or two trilogies, or is there some manical plot to make seven eight and nine?

Posted by: Canis Lupus

meant "all three movies in the trilogy"

Sorry to be smart here guys, but is scum over in the UK, we got our copies on Monday (20th), although the smarmieness is shortlived. Once again us Englesh speakers over the sea have been dumped with the nasty European 'Dual Layed' versions. Now I was happy to accept the pause due to moving layers halfway through each film, but to encounter more after!!!!!!!! Not a happy bunny, my duff set is getting sent right back to the store I purchased it from and demanding one where the second layer is not quite so, well what's the word for it, in fact insert your own expletive.........

Posted by: Tecil

I picked mine up yesterday at Best Buy as well. I watched the Episode III Darth Vader feature.

I think we may do a Star Wars marathon this weekend and watch all three.

I think your dvd player is the culprit.

On my folks' ancient player, dual layered discs stutter for 1-2 seconds when making the change. However, on my newer jvc model, I get no such stutter on any dual layered discs.

I decided to be sweet last night. I volunteered (out of the kindness of my heart) to go to walmart and pick up the groceries. When I got home and started putting up groceries I noticed an extra bag just chillin' there on the counter. I thought to myself, "What could this be?" I looked in the bag and to my surprise, it was the widescreen version of Star Wars Trilogy and Star Wars Battlefront for PC (along with some lipstick and body lotion for the wife). My only explanation to the somewhat agitated other half was, "Must have been a jedi Mind Trick."

I would agree with you, only for the fact is that the judders are continuing after the change!! Checked with other discs, notably Episode I and II, no problems with them........

Posted by: SKYHN

I saw Empire of Dreams last week, A&E showed it. It was REALLY good.

wow, you mean to say there's no Best Buy, Tower Records, DVD Planet or any other outlet that carries it in your part of California? Wow... either the stores there have been out of touch with the distributors or there are a lot more Star Wars fans there than you thought...

SPOILER: (highlight to read)
Hayden Christensen as the Anakin spirit at the end of Jedi is BS. Thats how he looked when he was young. I dont see Ewen McGregor as Obi Wan at the end. I had read rumors about that but didnt think they would actually do it.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

in reply to above

SPOILER: (highlight to read)
two explanations offered: first, both obi-wan and yoda "rejoined" the force willingly - they were not killed, they disappeared and became one with the Force, hence their essence at the point they rejoined was intact. Anakin, on the other hand, "died" from grave wounds sustained from the Emperor's force lightning, hence the spirit he assumed when he rejoined the force was the form he had before he succumbed to the dark side.

Second explanation, this one from Lucas himself in the commentary in RotJ, is that Obiwan and Yoda were experienced and knowledgeable enough with the Force to keep their essence intact before they rejoined it. Anakin, on the other hand, did not have the experience, as it was cut short when he succumbed to the dark side, hence he couldn't assume his current form, but rather the one he had before he succumbed to the dark side...

SPOILER: (highlight to read)
What we see is Anakin's true spirit within the force, not the years of abuse at the hands of Palpatine, which is what we see ala Mask Removal at the end of ROTJ

Sadly alot of critics, fans etc seem to forget that Star Wars is about Lucas' vision, not giving what the fans want, as he already knows that what the fans want to see is the magic of his vision. That's why he knows he can deliver his own vision and profit from it

Posted by: RAcastClarke

If I may post something relevant to Star Wars:

http://www.mentalwardfilm.com/Falcondocumentary.htm

Posted by: Sops

Wow i can't believe someone actually did that. Thats awsome !!!

Posted by: SKYHN

Did anyone notice the statue being torn down(I think of the emperor) at the end of jedi? Where have we seen that before

Posted by: taco_fox

In 1997 when the Special Edition RotJ was released.

That was an added in the original "Special Edition" it wasn't new in this one.

EDIT: Beat by Taco

Posted by: SKYHN

I thought they didnt show Coruscant in the 1997 version...

Posted by: Canis Lupus

they didn't show the Jedi temple in the horizon in the 1997 version

Posted by: SKYHN

Its A Trap!

Posted by: SKYHN

Did anyone notice a small edit in Return of the Jedi when Luke and Leia are about to swing off Jaba's Sail Barge? Before, theres a split second where Luke is staring at Leia's chest. Its not there now

Posted by: Bishop

I was too busy noticing how the lightsaber is visible through people.

Posted by: SKYHN

Yeah, and that scene with the flying dogs. What was lucas thinking.

Posted by: Bishop

Your post is a troll and a personal attack and I want it removed immediately!

Posted by: Canis Lupus

let's stick to Star Wars and cut down on the trolling, or I'll force choke the lot of ya...

(yeah, that's a warning)
