Call me a History Buff...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Hambones

I want to check out the first posts ever made to OTS. I'm sure there is an archive somewhere, I just haven't found it. If any of you ancient members could point me in the right direction I would speak blessings upon your house! Thanks

Posted by: Gerbilo

wooo OTS history! back then in the first year you'll see me talking about actual computer stuff, as opposed to now

Posted by: Hambones

Yeah, I've noticed that you kind of live in the General off topic discussions these days...particularly in the car thread.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Hey Hambones

When OTS was launched in 2000, I had to erase about 3-5 months worth of posts from the initial forum we had (it was UBB back then), but there are still some old topics from the latter part of 2000 onward in our Discussion Archive forums:

Enjoy!

don't expect much diff really, the names have changed but the bitzchings remain the same..

if I recall we were all whining & bitzching about battlenet going down, starcraft zerg rush techniques, diablo II will it ever come out?, cheaters with autokill...bush baby running for president...gore being a wooden weasely candidate taking money from the chinese buddhist nuns...

on the tech side it was the millinium bug, ME2k trashing 98 on install, how do i get broadband in the boonies?, lots of AOL bashing...should I go for more speed or more ram?

lots of gerbil jokes...lots of idiots thinking laggy was supposed to be democratic in the way the board is run...I wrote columns here and at wargy's site...lots of old friends that are now gone...new ones coming in eyes all a wonder at what was going on...here, the Helper, Wargs...

(goes sadly off to roll a few turtle leaves and drink a glass of cheese puff fizzies and commune with ghosts of OTS past)

I dont even remember seeing you around in the earlier days.

Posted by: Gerbilo

yuup... and technically i was here before you too lol

Posted by: Hambones

OTS is a really cool community and I just wanted to get my socioligical analysis on. Thanks to Canis Lupus for the link, and to all you other guys for the semi-nostalgic commentary.

This is good stuff. From what I've read, I have alot of respect for you guys. Too bad no one is within "hang out" distance though.

A few questions:
1. What happened with Ion Silverbolt?
2. What did this "hooded" avatar look like that Canis Lupus used to sport?

Posted by: Spork Lover

lol...I find this topic amusing for some reason

Posted by: Gerbilo

yeah.. .what did ever happen to Ion... anyone know if he is still down in Danville?

Posted by: Canis Lupus

He went psycho and turned on us, hehe

Seriously, he had issues against this site (still dunno what his problem was, he wouldn't tell), and preferred not to be associated with it. We haven't had contact with him since his big meltdown more than a year ago... Dianah at bnet might know where he is...

Posted by: Gerbilo

stupid getting nostalgic.. there are a lotta ppl i talked to all the time on b.net i haven't seen or heard anything about in years... it's starting to scare me that it's been that long...

laggy, remember when i'd refer to you merely as "wolfboy"? and have random retarded arguments stating that your SNs were scientifically incorrect? haha

Posted by: Ion Silverbolt

Hey Gerb. I'm still around. Life is good.

Posted by: taco_fox

I was a forum newb when I joined in 2001

Posted by: Freak

if you had a cached copy of big red x, that would be really cool

that site had...THREE FRAMES!!

Posted by: Gerbilo

I think the BRX layout is around somewhere, that might be it though.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

three frames? errr, last time I ever used frames in my old site was on The Void, my Diablo site (circa 1997-1999).

Anyway, my old hard drive is like a treasure chest to the past ... found some of the oldest remnants of BRX
