i recently had AOL but have decided to go to a different internet provider. my aol account has now been terminated after about 5 years of their service. now i can not sign onto AOL instant messagner with my old screen name. everytime i try it says that my screen name has been blocked and pretty much that its been blocked b/c i cancelled their service. my question is does anyone know if they take the block off a certain period of time where i can recreate my same screen name?

I would assume you would hafta sign back up for AOL to gain access to your AOL screen name. Your best bet if you ever get access back is to save your buddy list and sign up for a new screen name, then load your old buddy list.

it would be quite a while, if ever. it wasnt just an aim screen name, it was also an email address and an account. if its that important, contact them and find out.

you dont think that they just make that screen name available for someone else in like 30 days or something? like for someone else to take it? the main problem is i have lots of friends from school that i dont talk to anymore except for on AIM simply because we live in different parts of the country now and they block anyone not on their buddy list. if you understand what i'm saying...

I had AOL over 3 years ago, and still cannot get my screenname back. So unfortunately, I dont think youll ever get that screen name back. You should contact AOL and see if you can get your buddy list back, maybe contact all your friends via Email? If you can.

if its just a bunch of friends, find one that doesnt block people, and communicate with them. have them pass on your new SN. eventually, you should get most of them back.
