Hmmm......I guess now you don't even have to play video games to become violent, merely owning one is enough!

That news story is so misleading. The actual facts are that he was kicked out of a house he was living in illegally, and the owner of the house got rid of everything that was his inside the house, which just happened to include an xbox. There was a whole bunch of other stuff too, the media just likes to sensationalize. The thing has nothing to do with videogames or the xbox. The guy was an ex con who convinced some kids to brutally murder a family.

Well, perhaps I should have mentioned that I was being facetious, as in "toungue in cheek". I thought it amusing that this news story would focus on a video game as the motive for the killing of 6 people instead of trying to determine what the real motive was.

More of the medias quest of slander against the gaming industry. People get murdered on TV and movies all the time, with aluminum baseball bats, and whats to blame? Video Games.
Search that house and see if theres a dvd or vhs of Casino.

Just wondering, when your at work are there ever discussions about the media and their vendetta against video games? I would think it would be a hot topic in offices for that industry. Ive been in huge discussions about it with employees of EBGames and random people in there before.

I hate how the actions of the vast minority of people govern the actions of the majority. Because 1 or 2 tragedies that the media can vaugely connect it to videogames happen each year, thousands of soccer moms that have never seen a videogame go on their own personal rampage to keep me from being able choose what i can and cannot play.
I cannot deny the reports that violent videogames make you more violent, since studies on both sides of the argument are biased towards their respective opinion, but it is one of those things that is the top layer of a much deeper problem.

What's the verdict? Should they get a life sentence or capital punishment? Maybe I'm cold hearted, but if I was their judge, I would have a hard time empathizing with someone who beat six people to death with an aluminum baseball bat whatever the circumstances. Does Florida even have any form of capital punishment?

I'd be surprised if they didn't, considering who the governer is..*cough* BUSH *cough* anyway, this has happened thousands of times, for some reason, the media (who probably all play violent games themselves) dislike violent games, and they try to make ppl think that they make ppl go on killing sprees...I'm guessing some rich psyco pays them to make those stories because he doesn't like video games!!!! lol
