Ping is responding O.K and the internet connection is O.K.
I have encrypted the router and forgot the Hex key. I have a new laptop and want to set the hex in the built in adaptor.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hmmmn... are you using the routers DHCP? Or have you set it up for static IP address?
If worse comes to worse most routers have a reset button that you can depress for 5-10 seconds to bring back your router to it's original out of the box configuration.

Try this click on start>run>type in Http://192.168.0.1 then click ok
If that doesn't work then double check your web-browser setting's

I would say to try connecting to the router via LAN first. If you still can not get the admin page to come up. Try the internet explorer options. I had the issue with just connecting the the admin page and I got an error. The error was (401 Unauthorized Authorization required). Is this the error you're getting? If so, you can fix it by going to your internet explorer internet option. Go to TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, SECURITY, CUSTOM LEVEL. Scroll to the bottom and set your (User Authentication Logon) as (Automatic logon only in Intrant zone). Click OK to save the settings and that would fix connection error with the admin page. Now you would need to look at the setup for your wireless connection.

401 Unauthorized in the dlink's configuration page mean's that they configured a password when they ran the wizard the fix for that is to reset the router for 15 second's (Paper Clip)next to the power cord.you cannot fix the 401 unauthorized issue by changing the web-browser setting's the correct fix is to reset for 15 second's.

Well I can say that I do not have a DLink router. I have a linksys router and I was getting a 401 error when trying to connect to the admin page. The issue was fixed as soon as I changed the IE options. I was able to get to logon prompt after the change. All I am saying is try it.
