Final Fantasy XI HELP

I am having this problem that a lot of people seem to be having. When I run FFXI a error msg comes up saying "Terminated as error orrured in Final Fantasy XI. Failed to recognize hardware TnL." I have been browsing the net for days and I've come to the conclusion that FFXI only supports NVIDIA GeForce series or ATI Radeon 9000 series graphic card. I am using a Rage Mobility 128 AGP 4X by ATI. I know the best solution would be to buy a new graphic card BUT I'm using a Dell Inspiron NOTEBOOK!!!! So I can't change video cards like desktops. So I am no LOST 
Is there anything I can do to play FFXI other then buying a new computer???
The representative I called long distance from Australia to US (lol) hinted some people use "grapgic card" emulators to play. Can anyone elaborate on that for me?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Don't waste money on a FFXI subcription if you don't plan on buying a new card. Your card is not supported so you either should buy a new one or not play. Don't do that emulation stuff, even if you can, it will never be as good as if you had the original card. Plus, it might even damage what you already have.

Problem is I am using a labtop so I cannot upgrade my graphics card or so I am told. But no worries!!! I am getting a new computer this week:
3 Ghz P4
1 Gb DDR RAM
512 ram Video card
I am so happy ^^

Errrmm sorry to sound a fool, what gfx card is 512 meg ? Afaik its only 256 top? surely you must mean 256 ram gfx
